I have a norinco UZI thumbhole stock and a folding New stock it says police style and a used wood detachable stock and a custom mounting bolt for the folder made by a gun smith my question is it worth it to pay the 200 fee to paper it sbr any pros or cons i would like to hear

I think the Uzi is classic, and looks best with the short barrel, but it's not for everyone.

I have some SBRs (my Uzi doesn't need a stamp for SBR), and I think they're cool. I say go for it.

After firing eodinert's Uzi, my semi-auto SBR is, well, anticlimactic. I've actually entertained ideas of selling it, then I change my mind, only to think about that again when thinking of eod's Uzi.

It IS very cool looking (take a look in the Uzi picture thread), but lack of a happy switch makes it less fun than it could be.

To change the stock on a norinco UZI you have to sbr it thats what i wonder if it is worth it

You don't have to SBR it, but it's cheaper than buying compliance parts.

ATF recently put out some shit that SBRing something does not make it exempt for 922r restrictions...

I would not do it. It makes it much harder to sell. I have a few SBR's and generally regret them. You have to inform ATF to take them anywhere out of state and the extra cost is not worth the cool factor.

Or, take them out of the configuration that puts them on the registry, i.e., put a long barrel back on them. SBRs are title II by characteristic (short barrel). No short barrel, no SBR. Machine guns are the only title II guns that are always title II, regardless of configuration.

I have several SBRs and wouldn't mind several more.

That's the crux of my problem, I'd want to change back and forth from the shorty to the longer barrel. I guess I could always have the carbine barrel shortened to 15 1/2" so that it too would be under the 16" criteria.
