I've got an oddball project coming up, and I'll be in need of a custom barrel blank. It needs to be at least 1.75" in diameter (1.875 would be better). Bore is .311 (7.65mm), 1:10". Chambered for 7.62x54R would be a plus, but I can always do that myself. Shilen makes a blank nearly perfect, but can only go up to 1.5" diameter. I've seen large diameter barrels before on custom projects, so I know it can be done; just gotta find someone to do it.

Anybody know of a good source?

I'd contact Van Horn, if anyone would know where to find a barrel like that they would. I haven't seen any .311" barrels available in anything over 1.5", its just a lot of extra barrel material that 99.999999% of buyers would simply need to machine off anyways.

I would look into e.r. Shaw as well they will pretty much build anything to your specs.

Van Horn does not make .311 barrels, not much demand. The Large diameter blank would not be an issue and could be done
I work for him.

What is your project that requires such a large blank? I am sure others want to know too.
