Unsure whether or not to finish it.

First build, Polish Underfolder, virgin US barrel.

Got a beat to hell Mossy 500 12ga from someone needing money, picked it up for $150 and thought WTF am I going to do with another 12ga. So I thought I would go HD, but why buy an 18.5" barrel to replace a 20". The checkering on the wood was fubar, there was rust in several places, finish was missing etc. I almost bought new furniture but couldn't justify the $, wanted to try my hand at checkering but didn't want to spend the dough on checkering tools. So I took out the Dremel and decided to put stippling where the checkering was, this was after I stripped the finish, bleached the wood and did a little sanding. I then bought a bottle of Kelly Green Rit dye, and started experimenting. I stripped the rust, cleaned up the metal and used up a can of black alumahyde I had. I used a polishing wheel on the bolt and lifter for fun. Aside from time the project cost me $154 and change. $150 for the shotgun and just over $4 for the dye. I like it, and am looking forward to shooting it this weekend.

(cross post) Very few people left that are qualified to work on Colt D/A.
I have said it before, Bringing a Colt to someone that doesn't have the proper knowledge, is like bringing your Rolex to a truck mechanic.

was a gift kinda, from another smith, hopefully I can find the parts and not cost more then they are worth. I love D frame Colts.

Enough to test, only had three original parts to salvage this from.
