Everyone in Prescott who is like, even half way concerned with a weapon's price knows that J&G Sales is a rip off. They get 90% of their sales because their surplus stuff is decently priced or because they keep a large inventory on guns most places aren't big enough to carry. Their prices on anything that is not surplus, is a horrendous rip off. Their salesmen are sleazy at best, straight out liars at worst. The arrogant little embry riddle brats they employ are insufferable.

Today was the final straw for me though. I stopped in to get a box of Hydra Shock because I was out of ammunition for my carry gun and it's always hit or miss if walmart has it in stock. After waiting for 15 minutes just to get service, I was told that I couldn't buy ammo with my MILITARY ID. REALLY?! Apparently, a military ID is not honored by J&G Service. Glad I bust my ass for my country just to have some snot nosed arrogant piece of trash tell me my military ID isn't honored. Sorry, I left my driver's license at home while I was in a rush and keep my Army ID in the truck. I didn't realize it was more "real".

If Brent gave a flying eff about his community, customer service, or the military this wouldn't have been an issue. From now on I'll save my business for Bill's Trading Post or Hunters Outpost. Better prices and owners that care about their customers.

I've never seen anyone at J&G that went to school with me. Sure they're riddle-ites? Because as far as I could tell, nobody there has anything resembling an education.

Sadly I know for a fact 3 of them are... Sorry if that sounded like a gripe about Embry Riddle students.

A lot of them are douchetarts. But not all of them. Just remember: the main things that the school creates are pilots that want to be tom cruise in top gun, and engineers, who you generally would not assume are riddle rats (though there are members of both groups even that cross over into the others' territory... lots of commiefornian children of rich daddies show up at erau).

But yeah... J&G... their prices are sometimes quite difficult to beat, and other times are terrible. And they photocopy your ID to buy ammo (more than enough of a reason for me not to go there IMO)... and do 90% of their sales online; I always felt that their customer service is absolutely awful and would end up going to Bill's; where you're treated with respect and a sense of familiarity even if you deserve neither.

I've been buying from JG for decades. For the stuff they are known for their prices cant be beat. Sometimes they are cheaper than their online competitors even with the added cost of sales tax. Overall we are fortunate to have them in Arizona.

However buying anything over the counter from them can be an ordeal. Purchases that take a few minutes to ring up in a regular gun shop take 30 min to an hour there. More often than not the salesman goes to the computer, stares at it, acts as if he's never seen a keyboard and monitor before in his life, then finally calls a manager over to help him get through the purchase.

I didn't know that they keep records of over the counter ammo purchases, that's pretty bad. In their favor, they have taken a lead role in the lawsuit against the new ATF semiauto rifle reporting policy but they (along with Lone Wolf) were an major participant in Fast and Furious. Why didn't they just say no when that agency proposed this illegal scheme?

I have found it easier sometimes to have them ship items rather than drive 5 hours round trip from Phoenix and burn $40 of gas. When doing a firearm transfer to a Phoenix dealer, a transaction that would have taken a hour in person at JG just takes a few minutes and the time and gas saved makes for a net savings even with the extra cost of shipping and the transfer fee.

J&G has been a love hate thing. I have been there a few times, usually when I am in Prescott working ill stop in at lunch to kill time and buy ammo. The copying DL thing has been going on for years, way before F&F, its just their policy.

It does take a long time to get rung up, 15 min for me to get 3 boxes of ammo.

What does piss me off about them is they steal 1 of your mags. Look at any rifle they sell from century for example. Then look at an online competitors ad. The other guy will sell, say a P62 with 2 mags, J&G will sell with 1, then offer to sell more only if you purchase the gun from them.

Hey its a free country, but ill buy online, get more accessories and only pay transfer, saving on gas and tax. Oh, and dont forget the parking lot you have to sit in which is Prescott Valley.

Maybe it's just a policy they have to cover their butt because they are in the spotlight often. Bring your drivers license next time. Your military ID is for getting on post, etc.

Although this applies to firearms transfers, J&G may have implemented it across the board to ease sales training.

Joint is frustrating at times fer sure, but I for one am glad they are in the state and a few hours away.
lets see, whiskey row, casino, fresh air, guns and ammo. jeebus what else is there, oh yeah, nice rack and pooter to go along on the ride.

Screw them, just take your Mil ID to ProForce and you'll be good to go.

OK, feeling a little sheepish, but I haven't needed to buy ammo for a while. When I did, I don't recall having to show any I.D. is this a change in the last few years or is this a Phoenix/Scottsdale rule?

I believe its a J&G rule.

J&G requires ID for all ammunition sales.
