Just saw this post and brought back many memories and I am now having flashbacks.
I spent several months on one of my carrier deployments during Nam in the forward compartment, on the fourth rack up, right under the forward steam cats. The temp in the compartment was 100 at night and they were launching at all hours.

You forgot for us Aviation guys to make sure that you are eating sandwiches at all meals that are covered in grease and dirt. I dont remember a single meal coming off the deck from CAG ARM/DEARM especially when I was working with my shop also. But man those Rats had it worse then us.
