After a cheap piece of Aguila ammo blew up in my reciever, I decided to do everything I can think of to prevent this from happening again.
As I cycled the bolt and watched the rounds chember, I realized I could make this all happen a lot smoother. The magazines are not that slick and are actually rough on the round. " Anybody who has ever unloaded a magazine by hand knows".
So what I done is disassembled every 10/22 mag I own. The feed lips are nice SS, but with more of a blasted or as cast finish. I polished the crap out of the SS feed lips inside and out. For the past two evening I had a drimal in my hand. I used plastic abrassives to remove the rough texture. Then polished to a chrome like finish inside and out.
Now when I cycle the rounds, I get hardly no marks on the rounds and the action from the bolt is very smooth. Even when I cycle in slow motion, it all works great.
So tomorrow, I'm going to find out if I just super tuned 10 magazines or ruined them.
I really don't like crap blowing up in my face. [smilie=anim_cussing.gif]

You can also take it apart, clean it and adjust the tension on the spring.

Here's some good info on disassembling, cleaning and reassembling the Ruger 10/22 magazines:

I went shooting the little gun yesterday. It was smooth! I loaded two rounds of spring tension on the 10 round mags.
I was pretty pleased with all the magazines function. I still had a few feeding issues with cheap ammo, but every extended mag I ever used on a 10/22 did that. CCI mini mags had no problem. The Winchester Western work great. The Aguila still sucked!
To give a heads up for those who like 22's, I shot some Armscore precission I bought at a gunshow, man that stuff groups tight. I want more of it.
I put the Take Down all together, with a tight assmebly of the barrel, the gun holds Zero with the quick detatch railed sig scope.
To conclude, my sig scope went south after shooting the gun for a few hours and working on it. It won't stay zero'd now. I guess I'm just pleagued with optic problems now days.

Which Aguila ammo are you using?

The stuff I was shooting is the Super extra. I have several kinds of it.
I'm going to save it for my Model 60, it eats anything.

Something else I noticed about the aguila feeding is the crimp. Its the only ammo that bends the bullets when I get a FTF. The crimp on their bullets is loose.

Well, I put this gun on my sighting tool today and found the little Sig optic wasn't the problem. It moves great in the sight picture and has no hesitation. I even detatched it, beat it up, and reattatched it. It held Zero to the sighting tool.
So I went shooting again, adjust, adjust, and adjust some more. The dang grouping wouldn't follow the optic adjustments.
Then I messed with the TakeDown's barrel.
The problem is how the barrel mounts with the stock being two pieces. The front part of the stock was loose, allowing the barrel to move up and down a little. I tightened it all up and the problem went away. Now I'm bedding both pieces of the stock. Need more Devcon!
