$425?...Lay the gun on the back bumper of your truck and hit the front sight with a hammer....no, I mean really, hit it with a hammer...

Now thank me...

Don't want to risk messing up the bumper. [smilie=icon_mrgreen.gif]

Check the alignment of the FSB and confirm it it truly centered. Depending on where you are try taking it to a decent gunsmith who knows their way around an AR.

Took it to Derrick Martin (Accuracy Speaks) yesterday. He agreed with all of you above that the front sight assembly was cattywumpus. He remedied that with the gentle application of a BFH (large hammer).

However, when he removed the upper to work on the front sight, he noticed that the rear disassembly pin was broken. (I had not noticed, because I had never disassembled the gun; I just bought it.) Here's the kicker: apparently regular AR15 pins don't work; it needs to be the Plum Crazy part. Naturally, Plum Crazy just went out of business. As Charlie Brown said, as Lucy removed the football, "Aaaaaaauuuuuuggggghhhh!"

So, anybody know where to find a plastic rear disassembly pin and detent spring for a Plum Crazy lower?

I don't know much about plum crazy lowers, but it's plastic, can't you mod it to accept the metal pin?
The only poly lowera I have is my old cav arms one and an ati omni 22, it took a standard dpms lower kit without issue.

Check with new frontier. Think they were plum crazy originally and may be a similar part

Are you sure about that? I bought one of the PC lowers (still have it) when they first came out and put a regular parts kit in it. Maybe that changed when they started including the plastic fcg?

New Frontier Armory sent me the parts -- no charge. Big thumbs up for them!

Took it to Scottsdale Gun Club yesterday just to try to get it on paper. Same thing. Still shoots hard to starboard. Got it centered at 70 feet by moving the rear sight all the way to the left.

Next time I get to Rio, I will ask Derrick to try again with a bigger hammer.

Something is telling me the barrel is not indexed correctly in the barrel extension.

Update -- Drove to Rio this morning and dropped it off with Doc Martin. He says he will figure it out and report back.
Standing by....

Picked it up this morning. You were absolutely right. Front sight base was installed cattywumpus. He removed it, placed it correctly, and redrilled for the pins. Ran it over to the rifle range and dinged the turkey and pig a few times (the close ones) just to verify. Very satisfying to hear that clang. When I have more time, I'll put it on paper and get it calibrated more better.

Bottom line:
- It was the FSB after all.
- Bargain guns often are not.
