I took out my K98 Mauser and the bolt is VERY difficult to close with a round chambered. Any ideas? Who should I take the rifle to to have it checked out?

Bring it by sometime next week, I'd suspect you got something in the chamber causing tight lockup. Is it the 30.06 shorty?

The 30.06 shorty Mauser works GREAT. This is my 1944 German K98 8MM Mauser. I will try some old surplus 8MM ammo and if it still sticks, I'll call you.

Thanks!

Azski, does the first round chamber nicely and the next round (after firing the first) is a bear to chamber? If so, let me know what you figure out for a solution, as my VZ does the same thing.... Steel case ammo, if that means anything. Good luck.
