I have an AR that has an older metal collapsing buttstock. Don't know who made it or where it came from. It seemed that every now and then when I shot it I received a small electrical shock in my cheek when I had a good cheekweld. Could this be caused by the spring and buffer creating some type of generator effect as it cycles?

Just something weird that I'm wondering if its happened to others.

Are you sure it isn't a small pinch from the where the metal collapses into itself?

Or beard stubble getting pinched pulled or plucked? Happens all the time with me.

No beard, no pinching. Just a shock like you might get by touching anything after walking across a carpet. Just annoying. Maybe that's why they are all plastic now.

They are all plastic now due to mostly cost of production.

Still, interesting question though. I've never heard of someone getting shocked by their stock. Does it happen every time? If so, check your buffer and spring to see if they are magnetic. If it happens every once and a while, most likely due to static electricity.

yeah, just every once and a while. Doesn't do it with any of my plastic stocks. I'll be that buffer and that spring create a current inside the metal tube. Energy input from the carrier. That or I'm just weird.
