Not sure this is the right forum....

Bought 2 mini-Draco pistols....b/c the first one keyholed about once every 20 rounds and after searching various AK forums and asking....everyone said their's worked fine and it was just a fluke. Bought a second....same problem. Slightly less frequent, like one keyholed round every 25 to 30 rounds. Gave the 2nd one away, but want to fix the first, if possible.

I think the real problem isn't either mini....it's that the twist rate on the bbl is standard AK 1:240mm or ~1:10" and the bbl is only 7.75" long so it just doesn't stabilize rounds well (not that I'm looking to shoot tight groups with it....I just want to add a brake that won't get blown apart by a keyholing projectile).

So essentially, I need to find a smith well versed in AKs, pressing in bbls, checking headspace and hopefully, someone familiar with SBRs in very short lengths that might be able to source a bbl with a tighter twist rate....if such a thing even exists.

Anyone local you guys have used and can recommend?

Thanks,
Sean

If it has been shot a lot, the rifling may be worn. You can check that yourself.

Have you used only one brand of ammo? What was it?

AZ Response Systems, T Mark Graham, does excellent work on HK and FAL projects, pretty sure he can handle AK stuff just fine. http://www.arizonaresponsesystems.com/

If you were in Tucson, I'd recommend Mario at Piece of History, he's an AK specialist

The only other ones I know of are Kilo Guns and Lee Armory. I have zero experience with either one.
