I built my 308 AR and i turned out pretty sweet. Started off as a POF build kit I got on here YEARS ago. Had a friend who has the lapping tools go over it for me. Barrel is a 22" JP enterprise Supermatch w/ matching bolt and adj gas block. JP full mass bcg, HSNM trigger, JP silent capture spring, Sightron 10-50x60 LRMOA2 and im sure some other things im forgetting. Gun probably shoots better than i will. my pet load is 175 smk w/ 41.8gr 4064 and i can get 1/2 moa out of it but if i really take my time and do my part i can get it down to .3's. Only thing ive changed since this pic is i put a Saker 762 and different break.

One load that has shot very well in most ar308's I've owned was AA4064 (42grns) and 168hpbt

I had a dpms sass that shot very well, but I sold it to buddy and bought a brux barrel, back when Brux would still make an lr-308 barrel. I thought the brux would make it shoot a whole lot better, but it turns out that the 1/2 moa I got from the sass was as good as I was going to get without going for other factors. It was an expensive lesson for me to learn...

I have had and anderson arms $100 barrel that shot moa with the above listed load. I have had a Bergara barrel custom chambered to match my bolt specifically that shot 3/8 moa with the above listed load. With factory rounds the group size about tripled

Good luck

I'll admit that I've shot 168gr almost exclusively in my LR-308. Mine seems to prefer the Nosler CC over the A-Max, but I didn't do a whole lot of load development. I have a bunch of 155, 165, 175, and 190gr bullets that I'll eventually play with in the rifle. Just need to find the range time.

I picked up a S&W M&P10 topped with a nikon 308 bdc and the first time out shot a box of 168gr hp (last box of that brand and can't remember which one, light blue box).
Had a 5/8th inch group at 100yds with a 4 shot group. I was impressed.
