Any recommendations, complaints for Phoenix gunsmith to do barrel work on S&W non pinned barrel??
I am thinking about S J Waltz or Frank Glenn and perhaps Robar?
thanks

Nelson Ford comes to mind. I've never dealt with him directly, but have heard his work is good. I also heard he can be moody, maybe someone who knows better will chime in.

Yes, moody, not cheap and always busy and booked up,...which means he's good at what he does. I had him work his magic on an old Model 27 years and years ago. Smooth as buddah.

I will not return to Ford's place for any work after having a barrel changed in a Model 27. He called me and said my gun was ready and when I got there he was still working on it and did not do all the work requested and paid for. He got pissy and said to leave it and he would do the work but at that point I decided I did not want to risk him working on it again.
My friend Stephan Waltz was still in gunsmith school then but if I could not do what is needed I would have him do it.

Frank Glenn is a master and a gentleman to boot. I'd go to him first.

One more for Nelson Ford. He does a great job on my S&W's.
