Anyone else have issues with Federal 100rd value packs from Wally?
I bought around 1000rds of it awhile back before really getting a chance to shoot it, my thought process was that it outta be reliable and fairly accurate, being Federal and all, in case SHTF.....
Well, Ive been shooting my reloads against Federal and this shit is junk in my AR.

I have AT LEAST 4 "duds" per 100rds (primer strike, no boom)
I cannot consistently achieve sub 1.1" 5-shot groups at 100yds (prone, grip-pod, 4x scope)

Conversely, my reloads are shooting under .5" at the same distance and my soviet russia primers have been about 99.8% reliable. (with failures likely due to my Cambodiaesque quality control in loading procedures)

Can anyone else corroborate my experiences with Federal value pack ammo?
Or is my gun "picky?"

I have put around 800 rounds of this through my Stag with no issues. But on the same token I have not found a round it wont shoot yet. Might just be pure luck on my end.

Weird. Ive got a Failzero BCG in my gun which has lived up to its name on everything but the Federal, so i doubt thats the issue, headspace was checked out by AZA (prior jamming issues that ended up being the shitty bolt i was using, the FZ bolt solved all that mess) My friend has had similar issues as me with his rifle on Federal only, has an LMT

I put about a 1000 rounds of it through my Bushmaster AR15 with no issues, but it also shoots just about anything I put in it.

I like the Privi Partizan and American Eagle Tactical ammo better than the Federal and it's cheaper.

I just ran 200rnds of it through my AR at front Sight last week and didn't have any issue, and its not the first time I've used the stuff.

Quality control on virtually all ammo has gone down since the 2008 ammo panic. Why? Because they know they will sell every round they make they have incentive to cut some corners to pump it out faster. Some of the 5.56 that is hitting the shelves are rejects from the military buying process, for one reason or another.

I think it's the ammo. It's hard primers.

If it was the rifle there would be more malfunctions than 4 per 100.

I don't expect anything better than 2MOA from inexpensive ammo.

It is normal that your load shoots better and are more accurate than the Wally World cheap stuff.

i had the same issue with AE a while back (6 months or so ago) out of 500 rounds, i had about 15-17 that had primer strikes and no boom. :/ but ive bought/shot 1000 or so since and had no issues.

I shoot probably 2000 rounds of 55 grain Federal AE every year thru my Colt M16 and several Colt 6920's. I don't think I've ever had a round not go boom. Never had a lick of trouble with it in any of my weapons.

The #1 problem is you're expecting premium results form the cheapest of the bulk ammunition. You're getting premium quality with your handloads. I'll get 2 or 3 inch groups with federal bulk ammo and under .5 at 100 as well with my handloads. The best thing bulk ammo is for is the brass.

Whose trigger group are you using?

The Federal is all I shoot out of mine for plinking ammo and I have never had a problem.

either RRA or DPMS (with the FZ hammer)
Im gonna get in there and see if i stuck the RRA lpk in there. If its still the dpms then ill swap it our and retry

I've honestly had more problems with federal bulk ammo than russian steel cased. Stuck cases in ARs aside.
