Hello All,

I'm looking for information on where you can shoot around the Phoenix general area. Not shooting ranges, but outdoor desert style. I recently learned that state land is off limits for target shooting.

I live in the east valley area, so info regarding the east would be perfect. But once in a while I'll pick up a friend on the west side and we'll need info for going out west too.

Thanks!

You have GPS?

Some of the state land requires a permit. Are you familiar with the games area at MP 215 on US60?
I've been going out there for a couple of months now(once a week). I never go there on the weekends(too crowded). There is also shooting(dove) along US60(south side) once you get past Rich Bastard(err Gold) Canyon.

Hey, when will you go in Phoenix? I am going there for vacation trip this end of February, do you want to come with me? I think I can play target shooting with you. :D

problem with posting a sweet shooting spot on this site is that everyone in their brother now knows about it and in a matter of months the place is trashed like Table Mesa. I bought steel targets several years ago and have various spots around north valley to set up and shoot as all I need when shooting handguns or close range rifle under 100 yards is a small hill or gully backstop which there are plenty within 45 minutes from my house up the freeway. Just get out and cruise the desert in an afternoon and you'll find them. Good luck and remember a gun with no ammo is only a large paperweight.

I've been trying to find a place outside the east valley as well. I'll be driving around this weekend to see if I can find something decent. Send me a pm if you find someplace worth looking for.

Only east valley areas are Queen Valley (If its still possible to shoot there) or off the Bee-line in the sycamore areas that I know of that have safe backdrops

The Queen valley area if you are talking about up behind the dam is posted closed.
Almost the entire area past gold canyon all the way to Superior is either State trust land or private land. State trust cannot be used for target practice even with a state trust land use permit.

Best bet is to hang around the local ranges, make friends with some regular shooters and get them to let you in on a spot or two.

I don't know much about the areas in Phoenix for RV rentals arizona. The only area that I know is the Table Mesa Area. I think I'm gonna bring map if I'll go in Phoenix. :D
