Friend of mine died a couple of years ago. His widow just called me, says there are several 5-gallon buckets of brass. I offered to list them for sale in the classifieds here.

I don't reload, so I have no idea what used brass goes for. I see .45, .223 and .308.

Give me a rough idea, or a range, or SWAG?

Im lucky to get $50 per thousand on polished 45acp and 223 brass. I can only get $25 per thousand on polished 9mm and 40S&W brass. I have never really sold 308 brass because I need it myself and never have a surplus.

Last time I sold brass I got $60 for a 5 gallon bucket of 9mm and the same for 5.56. You can also take it to a scrap yard.

its at the bottom of brass resale market, only really special calibers are at a decent price.

bucket might be worth more than the brass..

good luck with it, if any 38 spl, i would be interested.

Thanks. I'll take some pictures this weekend and list it for less than those prices.

If it's not cleaned, sorted, small pistol 45 brass removed, rifle brass sorted by head stamps it is worth scrap prices. That said I have sold a lot of brass in my life and right now it is not worth processing due to slow sales. We got the wrong president for selling brass, Obama sold every piece of brass I want for me, Trump has shut that part of my business down. Brass is over a buck a pound right now, I just scrap what I pick up these days. Several other guys I know who process brass have suspended operations. I still buy military auction brass but that is it.

I'm on board with 338Lapua on the brass. I did a lot of cartridge case conversions before the last election. Right now brass can be had for scrap prices plus shipping almost everywhere on a lot of sites.

As mentioned only the odd and/or hard to find SPECIALTY brass is worth the effort to try and sell.

I just ordered 38Spl brass last week, ended up paying .03ea shipped.

No problem selling for scrap prices. It's not doing any good cluttering up her house. Not trying to get top dollar, just fair market value minus a little to help it sell fast.

What is "scrap price"? Is it per round or per pound? Any difference in price between .45, .223 or .308, or is it all just by weight?

Scrap sells by the pound. It does not matter the caliber.
It is going for around $1.60 per pound right now at a scrap yard.

OK, then. I will weigh it, then list it at $1.50/lb.
Thanks.

The 308 is probably worth more than scrap value, depending on what it is.

I already have more 308 than I'll ever use, but I'd be interested in once fired Winchester or Hornady headstamp at 10 cents a piece.

If there is any 7.62x39 brass cases in there I'd be interested at 10 cents a piece.
