I already have an XD 40 but thinking about getting a Glock. They seem to be very similar just holding them in the store but want more opinions which I'm sure I will get here. :D
Any major preferences? If so, why?

I'd also search over on XDTALK and GLOCKTALK. It's been debated to death.

if you hold the glock, dryfire it a bit and make sure you like how it feels.
if you like how it feels, GET ONE.
you cant knock their reliability, accuracy, and ease of cleaning.

Glocks are lighter, easier to carry all day long.

Glocks are easier to COMPLETELY tear down for cleaning, try taking apart the grip safety on an XD, no thanks.

I like the XDs better because of the grip safety and trigger safety. I use it as a night stand gun, and I'd hate to wake up to a .40 caliber round going off because I reached for my phone and hit my Glock trigger...

Yes, because Glocks don't have trigger safeties any more.

Err, something.

if you can accidentally make a Glock trigger go off, you are doing something unusual.
a STOCK glock trigger has a 6lb pull and .5"of travel to make it go off.
Just like your XD, your finger has to be fully on the trigger too.
its very unlikely, but you are correct. it is more likely to happen without the grip safety. VERY unlikely but i guess about as possible as being struck by lightning. which does happen. :)

The debate is like kicking a dead horse.

But at least this video is an amusing way of killing a few minutes.
