Ok first off hello, Im pretty new to the sight and like what I see, alot of good info. OK to the meat of it, I am starting to get semi serious about getting prepared for emergency's and I feel I have a decent idea what I need to have to not be a frikin victim if SHTF.

Plan: Bug In at first and let the first couple of waves pass, then head to a location I have picked out already. (Unfortunately a little farther that I would like but hey cant have it all roses) FYI I have wife and kid.

Supplies:
Food: 4 people, about a month and a half ..Seeds to start a garden if bug out is delayed or not possible. <-------Hunting rifle and bird guns

Water: Purifying equipment, storage containers(100 gallons) then its fire and pasturizing for drinking water.

Defence: Hand gun, AR, long gun, combat shotgun, Bow and arrows....Here i need to ask about ammo numbers, I was thinking about .22-5k, .270-1k-2k, 12g(Bird shot) 500, 12g(home defence AKA slugs and Buck) 500-1k, AR 5k-10k, Arrows 100 pre cut and ready.

Transportation: Workable pre 80's vehicle, dirt bike for minor forrays

I am not a freako just want to give me and the fam the best chance to make it in a disater, social breakdown ect. ect, there is a ton of crap in the world that makes me nervous as a whore in church, Greece about to pull out of the euro area (Possible world economy full collaps), Isreial about to come off the leash and pop Iran (By proxy we will get dragged in), and the state of the country's social arena...

So how is the plan so far? Pick it apart and give me some ideas to improve thanks in advance love the site!!!!

You should have supplies at your destination.
How much of your stuff will you be transporting? Will it all fit?

Insufficient stores of Astroglide.

What are you going to do for personal lubricant?

just spit on it, you guys and all of your tacticool thingeys :)

Back on topic...you are off to a good start- also may want to consider:
-Meds for at least 6 months
-Some basic emergency training, maybe some more advanced life support
-Local friends and partners, security is always an issue
-power? candles etc...light and heating sources
-entertainment- your family needs something to distract from the suck

Crude but good point. Personal hygiene is important. Bring items for sanitation, waste disposal, and medical. And condoms. Always have a good shovel.

You are definitely thinking about a plan which is great. There is a meetup "Preparedness 101" where they cover the basics of preparing. May be something for you to check out.

The one thing I do see glaring is that your food supply is not enough to hold you until you can plant a garden. It takes 2-3 months to get food from a start-up garden. Also, if it is summertime, you can forget about growing anything except for cucumbers. You also have to think about water for the garden.

Hope this helps.

If you add sweetner (sugar, splenda, etc) and lemon juice to standard mayonaise, you can make ersatz Miracle Whip.

This may be important.

Summer squash and zuchinni are good producers in the hotter months as well. Keep them covered with shade cloth. A gravity fed drip system by the roots of each plant can cut down on water cunsumption and evaporation, but it still takes a lot of water. An ongoing garden year round is the best preparation, plus it gains you experience with the seasons, the difficulty in growing from seeds, and keeping plants alive here in the desert. This thread might provide a few ideas:

Perhaps you are good with a bow and arrow. I am ok, but I am not sure how well I would do under pressure.
If it came down to using a non-firearm, I think I would have to go with crossbow, instead of a bow and arrow.
Takes longer to reload, but I could see me hunting more accurately with a crossbow, than a bow.
Same thing in a SD situation. I would probably shoot the crossbow and then go melee (baseball bat / axe / machete).

Have you considered nunchukau or shuriken?

Most of us got practice with those when we were six.

Certainly some of the basic skills are in the muscle memory.

Not me, I'm going to switch over to 200 pounds of rape. (5 boxes worth)

Forcible sodomy on an intruder will either keep them away forever, or they'll turn into your best friend.
