The competitive shooting I've done hasn't been the sort that uses a shot timer. But now that "there's an app for that" I've been working on my split times when at the range, and doing exercises to build speed at home every day. (It's an interesting biometric- some people check their pulse- I'm checking how fast I can move my fingers.

So my consistent time between shots with my right hand is .14 sec with my right hand and .16 with my left. Curious if anyone else here does this sort of analysis? For me it's an extension of my work designing triggers. It's not my intention to be Johnny speed shooter, though I'll admit, I want to be faster.

Is that how fast you can pull the trigger? Or how fast you can pull it and make reliable hits?

Shooting steel, I usually do .19 between shots. On occasion, I can get some .15 splits.

This is just pulling the trigger. The target is a standard sheet of paper at ten yards, with a weapon that is very easy to control.

I honestly haven't tried yet at longer ranges. This is a new thing for me.

I do it, but demand accuracy while doing it. My speed builds very gradually, but I only shoot handguns once a week.

Two things I concentrate on, how fast I can safely present and double tap out to about 20 yards from my concealed carry and hit COM area. Quit timing when I passed 60 but probably still get 80% of BG's that have me under gun and be in better shape then them as far as hits go. Don't train as much now but still can hit COM on target out 10 to 20 yards at a fast diagonal run, even doing it backwards. All those years of hundreds of rounds almost weekly paid off for this old geezer, Thank You Mister Dillion for your RL 550.
