What is the best camo pattern for use in the arizona desert? I've heard multi-cam, but have no first hand experience on the matter.

This seems to work for millions. They put these on when they go over the border and take them off when they get to the Home Depot - Presto! It's like magic.

Another vote for the Seclusion 3D Open Country. It blends really well, good stuff.

I've always used plain ol' Jungle BDU's, they hide you really well and they're cheap (so am I :D )

I use tri-color desert camo or coyote tan for day time, and woodland camo for nighttime here. Works well IME. If you're hunting 4-legged coyotes then you'll need some more specific camo like the Seclusion, those bastards have great eyesight and can spot you pretty easy

I like the NatGear, military DCU-three color desert, or desert MARPAT.

If you're in the greener areas of the desert, regular marpat works surprisingly well.

I live in the north valley. I shoot mainly at Table Mesa or Ben Avery since its close, so..... the desert north of Phoenix.

Ive walked up on humans quite a few times hiking in my multicam and they never see me until that last 30m or so... your mileage may vary.

Do you want to hide from humans or animals? With animals, pattern is not as important as color and breaking up your outline are. With humans, you will want something that really helps you to meld into the landscape, and may want something that has a low or no IR signature.

And yes, multi-cam rocks. I was talking to another instructor a couple of weeks ago - he's a USAF PJ - and they get multi-cam as standard issue now. He said that from Texas to California to Afghanistan, multi-cam blended in with everything. Personally I prefer MARPAT, but my next set will be multi-cam. If you wanna hide from animals, pick up some cheap BDUs or DDUs and you'll be good to go. No need to go crazy with buying expensive patterns that were meant to appeal to human eyes - cheap Wal-Mart camo is another good option.
