Anyone know anything about it? Google searching doesn't turn up much. I've got a really old one that was in the family and i'm just curious about it. It doesn't look like a high quality or well cared for firearm (no way i'm going to shoot it...), but figured someone on here would know something about it.

I believe it was made by Mossberg. They were a utilitarian gun made by Mossberg and sold at different sporting stores. If it is in decent mechanical condition you should be able to shoot bird shot through it just fine. I wouldn't shoot any high brass or magnum shells in it though. I have a Western Auto .20 ga and I shoot it all the time.

any idea when the m149 model was made? I would need work for shootin' bolt has a LOT of rust on it.

I found a list of all the western field models and what they actually were (and who they were made by), I'll see if I can dig it up.

Just guessing I would say it is probably at least 45 - 50 years old. The Western Field was sold at Montgomery Wards stores.

I just picked one up today that is in really nice shape. Not sure what to do with it.
Anyone have any idea on a value? I would rate it at least 90%

Hmmm-found several cross reference lists but none showed a model m149. I have a m775 .308 bolt action, actually a Mossberg 800 ad, nice rifle, great shooter.
