I have plenty of nice expensive AR15s, but I wanted to build one or two "budget" bone stock iron sight ARs just to have in the safe for a rainy day or maybe plinking where I dont want to bring my nice stuff. I have a couple lowers and parts kits, but seeing as how its impossible lately to find components, I was looking at some "complete" uppers from companies like Palmetto state armory, Aero Precision, Spikes, and some of the guys who offer the builder kits online.

All it needs to do is fire consistently and be able to hit something at a couple hundred yards... chances are other than test firing, I may not even shoot the darn thing, but I hate having extra parts laying around so thought id assemble some!

On another note, what companies have you had BAD luck with and to avoid?

I got a complete Spike's upper from Aim Surplus last fall, works great and is plenty accurate. Mine is a 14.5" lightweight barrel with pinned hider and mid length gas. Cost $500 shipped with 5 free Pmags.

Palmetto St Armory has some chrome lined uppers without B/C/CH for $299 shipped right now.

I have a dpms upper I got from midway for 389 last august. No problems at all and Ive had about 1k rounds through it.

Model 1 sales has cheap uppers but I dont know about reliability on them. The last time I was on there I was looking for a kit (everything minus the lower) but they were sold out.

I have had good luck with Stag arms. For the money I think they are hard to beat. 8) SB.

I emailed most of these places and surprise surprise many are 3-6 months out for parts. I think im gonna check out DSA and Palmetto state armory to see if I can get one of theirs.

Id like a Stag, but everything on midway is sold out, I will have to check their direct website.

I ran a stag 3 upper for a long time. paid next to nothing for it and it ran like a champ. Anything AR related is hard to get your hands on right now

I've got two stag left handed uppers, both have been excellent. When I think budget uppers I think model 1 sales, del-ton, or sometimes DPMS. RRA, Stag, Spikes, etc. are mid range to me.

I have two DSA uppers and BCGs on plum crazy lowers, that's about as cheap...err.. "inexpensive" as they get. For the money the DSA uppers are the best out there (in the low budget catagory).

do they go BOOM every time you pull the trigger? I have 2 other expensive ARs and an ACR for accuracy, so as long as it gets on paper at a couple hundred yards and shoots something out of the barrel every time im fine with that... I just dont want cycling issues or something that doesnt feed properly.

Ameetec is no longer in business. We bought it several years ago and let the FFL expire early last year. We still service Ameetec rifles since there are a few local organizations that use them as service weapons.

You need a Chandler location now so I dont have to drive all the way up to north scottsdale to pick up two more lowers :)
I should probably be up there sometime this week or next as long as you dont sell out of them.
