I saw a recent thread on mountain biking and carrying, but I didn't want to hijack that with a discussion on motorcycle carry.
I am curious for those who do - what are alternatives you have used and found useful, bad ideas, etc... and of course on which bike...!

open carry, left hip, If you are on a bike, it is hard to draw from concealed unless it is a shoulder holster.
I ride a Goldwing, and when I am not carrying, I lock it in the trunk.

Normal IWB carry for me under an Icon leather jacket, backpack, helmet, and gloves. It's pretty tough to draw quickly, but my chances of being hit by some idiot on the phone are MUCH greater than needing the gun, and I kind of like my skin in one piece. I can still draw the gun, but generally pray I never need it while geares up.

This is on the yellow 2001 ZX6R in my avatar. Riding is awesome, especially in this weather, eh? :) Put almost 12,000 miles on her in the past year.

OWB -- OC, cross draw during warm months. CC under a riding jacket/coat during cooler months.

Some riders who use a Tank Bag on their sport/touring bike, carry a handgun inside the bag.

Glock 19, 4:00 in IWB holster year-round. I put over 10k miles a year on my Harley FXDWG and FLHX combined.

I agreee with Basher. I don't worry about needing the gun on the bike. I think you can get out of most situations easy enough with the throttle or brake.

It's funny though... People can't see a 400-800 lb. motorcycle but strap a 2 lb. pistol to your belt and suddenly you're visible! I used to occasionaly wear the glock IWB but outside of my tucked in shirt and had several people comment. Once a middle-aged woman on a vespa pulled up next to me at a red light and asked: "Are you a cop or a gangster with that gun" I just smiled and replied: "What's your fantasy?" and took off :)

G30 in a Fobus, '02 GSXR, and yeah, it's remarkable how many people notice the Glock when I am OCing, but the same traffic would deem my shiny rocket invisible otherwise...... [smilie=icon_rolleyes.gif]

IWB year round when on the street. Shirt over it on the hot days and my M65 or leather when it is cold. I haven't found an acceptable way to carry while I'm offroad yet. Bike is '90 KDX200.

Like has been mentioned already, drawing while riding isn't going to help you one bit so OC or CC doesn't really matter. Just make sure it is comfortable and secure and if trouble comes up...gas it!

Sparks VM2 just like the rest of the time. I tried to shoot while riding once, I don't recommend it.

I carry a glock 30 or 1911 either in a shoulder holster or a IWB holster depending on where i'm gonna be,this is on a Harley. I have heard about a lockable holster that bolts onto your bike but i haven't had any luck finding one yet.
