What say you??? I'm interested in knowing what you guys think. I prefer the AR platform, I have a LWRC M6A2 and POF 12" P308 SBR (needs a silencer BAD).

I also like the M14 and AK47 alot. I have magazines available for a wide variety of pistols and rifles @ http://store.extremetacticalsolutions.com

"10off" for a 10% discount on your ENTIRE ORDER!!!

What are your preferences and why???? What accessories if any do you run??? Lights, lasers, sights etc...

If you have pictures POST THEM!!! I'll put up mine tomorrow.

AK. Reliable and pretty accurate. I am not in law enforcement, military etc so I dont really need lights and lasers and scopes. Iron sights work just fine for me.

For the WIN!!!

I like all answers given thus far. Go figure someone answers with "BAR" a gun for which I don't have magazines. :D

@thejediknight do you have a BAR? If not have you shot one? What classic design. To bad they aren't readily available on the shelf!!!

The class three version is not too readily availible, but Ohio Ordnance works produces a semi auto version.

I wonder how many of you have fired a BAR or, better yet, carried one around.

It was useful for its day but it's ridiculously heavy and huge, and I mean ridiculous.

They're very accurate, though, so that's a plus.

The BAR really does validate our "greatest generation" because, damn, I wouldn't want to hike that pig down the street nevermind running up and down hils and trenches.

We are talking about tools, and no one tool is usable on all problems.

What most people term as "assault rifles" really break down into 2 main groups (assault rifles and battle rifles), and then 2 other sub-groups (some assault rifles also loosely fit in the category of Automatic Rifle - which some confuse as a Squad Automatic Weapon - which is belt-fed, but performs essentially the same role,...while some battle rifles are modified to be Designated Marksman Rifles or Sniper Rifles),...each of which is their own unique type of tool.

FAVORITES

Assault rifle: There are many good ones, but I'm partial to the M-4 style AR-15/M-16 carbines. The ergonomics and modularity and ease of customization to my particular needs/tastes makes it my choice. Major differences between mine and most others, however is I'd opt for 6.5Grendel and a piston-driven.

Battle Rifle: More much of the same reasons listed above, the AR-10 platform. G-3s can be great, as can FALs and M-14s. There are some coll lesser knowns as well, like the Galil and SIG. The fact that there is a great deal of parts interchangeability with AR-15/M-16 assault rifles is also a factor. It's also a wee bit easier to wring 1 MOA accuracy out of an AR-10 type rifle and for less money than any of the other options.

Marksman/Sniper Rifle: See above

Automatic Rifle: I think the USMC's new M27 (with a supply of Surefire quad-column mags) is pretty cool,...but if only it could operate from an open bolt as well. I think, however, that open-bolt operation is a must for something like this, so I ultimately have to fall in favor of the Ultimax 100 Mk5 or Mk8 on this.
