The main forum already has a review section. It's kinda formal and serious. What I want to do here in my forum is give [and solicit] reviews from more of a regular Joe perspective. I want to hear what Appalachian Hillbillies [like myself], Montana Mountain men and Arizona Desert rats think of stuff.

I'm gonna start it off with "Jeff's trip to new Orleans".....

First of all....Jazz sucks! It's for lazy people that really don't like music. There's a reason why KYOT isn't on anymore. Nobody knows how it's sposed to sound cause they make it up as they go so you can't tell if they're doing a good job on a song or not. It's like going to a concert to hear a favorite band and they finally play your favorite cut and they change it all around...that's not how it goes!! Play it like on the CD! Seems like if someone can afford a horn they're playing it somewhere on the street with a hat on the ground.

The Blues....The Blues can be OK, but just because your a big fat ole black guy that likes to sing that doesn't mean you can. Every 100 feet there's some blues singer makeing the most gawd awful sounds you ever heard...but some of them were cool.

Bourbon Street....Whoa! It's fricken Sodom and Gomorah. I was surprised by the "AZEX like" decadence everywhere. If you're a single fella you probably should head down there sometime in your life. Lots of good food in most of the restaurants and pretty reasonable prices. We kept a running total and my wife and I ate a total of 8 dozen oysters while we were there for 3 days.

Lots of good food in NOLA...but what's up with the bread? There's nothing there! They give you 3 or 4 slices on your plate but it's all air bubbles...and dry! Cheap bastards!

Gay people everywhere but they mind their own business. After San Francisco I guess it's the second gayest city in the country.

It stinks..... literally. Like a damp basement. They have to hose off the sidewalks every morning and it still smells like pee and poop on Bourbon Street.

They were complaining about the heat while we were there. Wow...a whopping 93 degrees [smilie=icon_rolleyes.gif] . Yeah it's humid but that's not hot. No problem touching car doors and stuff and if someone gets lost for 8 hours with no water they don't die like they can in Arizona.

Well, that's my first Redneck Review. It's OK not to like what people expect you to like.

NO is an acquired taste, mardi gras is something to behold, most only go and tolerate once, expecting too much of a swamp is well outta the question.
I have relatives that live outside the city, and have over my life time visited the joint considerable, much like any place else it has its pluses and minuses, hehe, the tourist bring as much decadence as the natives, much like here.

It is worth one visit, IMO, much like that one time grab of a hot car door latch. lol.

I"m sure we get the same review from someone who made the mistake of visiting the valley in july. haha. Its how I keep my relatives away, have them visit in summer, they stay a few days and can't wait to hit the airconditioned aeroport and get outta dallas.

Nice review, I do like the food there,

I definitely think the tourists are the ones that get decadent. You get the feeling that the local workers just stand back and laugh at them on the inside. Kind of like we do when the Super Bowl or Fiesta Bowl is in town and we are amused by those traveling with their teams.

This next one is not so much a review as a peeve, also about concerts. Ever go to a concert and the performer plays one of their most popular songs that everyone knows? Instead of singing the damn song themselves when it comes to the "catch phrase line" the singer turns their head away and pushes the mike towards the crowd and they "sing it" at varying frequencies, pitches and times. It sounds like crap and ruins it! I didn't pay for a ticket to have 48 year old pot bellied women do their songs.....I hate that!

The singer might do that because after thirty years of snorting coke, Johnny Walker red, and weed, the pot bellied woman does a better job. [smilie=icon_mrgreen.gif]

I hear ya though...that sucks.

My impression of 'Nawlins comes from TV...On "Cops" the officers berate the visitors for pissing on the street 'do you do this at home, idiot?" Katrina, where the racist mayor tells the cops to disregard the 2nd amendment and confiscate guns, while the people wait for the Gubmint to save their hide. In that same event, uniformed officers help in the looting, and then the Danziger bridge incident.

I met Paul Prudhomme and was personally invited to come down and visit, but never made it.... [smilie=icon_sad.gif]

I love cajun food....incredible stuff!

Today's review is on the "new" Edge shave gel. Since I've been shaving my head with a razor every day for 14 years now I know a little about shaving. Being a hunter and trapper I can't stand heavy perfumes and casting an odor. Edge had the best product going with their "unscented" shave gel. It truly had no smell and did a good job. Well, they just "improved" it and it's now called unscented with oatmeal. Sounds OK...until I used it and it smells like........mosquito repellent!! No kidding. After shaving you have to wash it off with soap or it's gawd awful. The only thing worse is Barbasol [gross!]

I called edge and told them about it and they sent me a coupon for a whopping $3.99 for more of their products. No thanks.

The only other unscented I can find is Gillette and it's OK. A little bit orangy but it rinses off and you're good to go.

Today's review...SHREDDED LETTUCE...

Who in the heck invented this ridiculous practice? It's bad enough that I gotta chase peanut foam around my store when I open packages, now I gotta pick up ground up lettuce that falls off of my sandwich!?

I've got teeth, I can bite off my own lettuce. I hate this stuff!

I had to live too close to New Orleans for a while. Had to go through that dump a couple of times a week. That place is nothing but crap!
I have not been back in 12 years and the only reason I was there in the first place was my job. I guess the great flood didnt clean it up much at all. Fire might work better.
Oh, and that crap they call music gets really old after the first day!

Shredded lettuce is just like ground beef. That's a way to use up the whole head, including the clear ribbed part we toss out at home.

I was just there about a month ago, and I would say that you got a smell on a good day.
We popped on to Bourbon Street on a random Saturday morning as they were cleaning it from the night before, about 6:30 am. The stench was comparable to a frat house on a Sunday morning. A fine mix of stale beer, motor oil, vomit with a hint of feces and urine.

Ick.. we spent about 10 min walking the street before we couldn't handle it anymore.

Glad I can check it off the list as having been there, but I don't think I will be going back anytime soon.

Shredded lettuce is for lazy people.
My redneck review: dodge. How the heck do people buy these things? They have the worst interiors of any vehicle made. Granted, smart cars are designed worse, but chrysler interiors are just plain horrible. I've never known anyone who's had any kind of mechanical reliability from them not to mention theres always something to fix when I get one at work [I work at a used car dealership]. I almost get the cummings trucks but then its just a good motor in a bad shell. There are so many better choices for the money out there I just don't understand how they stay in business.

uhhhh........bailouts? ...........Sam Elliott?

I use Dodges when explaining guns and re-sale. For instance; when you go to re-sell this Glock/FNH etc., it's gonna hold it's value over for instance a Ruger or Sigma. I then use an analogy about re-selling a Toyota or Honda over a Dodge.

...and I grew up in cold country. I can still hear the starters whining and squealing and not starting on Dodge trucks when it was below freezing.

Chicken white meat....

I for one am sick and tired of food sellers promoting chicken white meat as being good. it sucks!! It's dry and tasteless. Ever been invited to a BBQ and they say were gonna have barbequed chicken? You think, great! Then you get there and its a skinless breast that you have to take a drink with every bite to be able to swallow it.

There was a time when McDonalds chicken nuggets were a delicacy, much like the delectable McRib sandwich. They were various dark pieces of chicken like the stuff along the backbone all fused together and juicy. Then they improved them by making them out of breast meat and ruined them.

Give me legs and thighs any day.

Spartacus "War of the Damned"....

Wish I'd been watching this from the beginning but I stumbled across this series on cable a few weeks ago. I'd seen it on in other years from time to time but it never drew me in.

These days it's filmed like "300" with slo-mo kill shots and more soft porn than Cinemax. I've learned a lot about ancient Rome from it. Such as, no one was over 35 years old ,everyone was chiseled out of solid muscle and all the women looked like Maxim models....but in this case that's a good thing.
