OTGD will be opened tonight or tomorrow. Read the following:

Access to OTGD:
Like the classified section, access to OTGD has undisclosed requirements before you are able to see the section. The process is automatic and people will be able to see the section immediately when they meet the requirements. There will not be any exceptions so please do not ask myself, admin, TimW or the other moderators what the requirements are. When you meet the requirements you will see it.

Rules:
OTGD will have forum specific rules that will be enforced. When you see the forum read them carefully.

Opt out:
Many users did not want an OTGD, and others did not want to see it if there was one. To give these users a better site experience, we have created an opt-out. Opting out will prevent you from seeing the OTGD section and OTGD topics will not appear in your active topics list.
To opt out:
1. Go to your user control panel
2. Click on the "Usergroups" button on the left under options
3. Join the group "Off-Topic General Discussion Opt Out"
To opt back in:
1. Go to your user control panel
2. Click on the "Usergroups" button on the left under options
3. Resign your membership in the group " "Off-Topic General Discussion Opt Out"

Excellent call.

After what happened with one of my threads last night, I shall be watching this very closely.

Nope...not at all.
This board needs a OTGD forum. These are trying times, and I believe our country is at a crossroads in history. It is important that like minded people talk about things.
Life is not all warm and fuzzy gun deals.

With the ability to opt in and out at will and have those threads excluded from the 'view active topics',
Administrator and staff have really outdone themselves.

You took extra steps to give your userbase more control.
I am floored at that level of consideration.

It is noticed, and it is appreciated.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Being that AZS is really the first board I've been a member on (guess I lucked out on the first try) I'm going to visit this topic quite a bit to get a feel for it.
I have no intention of ever opting out but I do appreciate being given the ability to do so.
As "Smooth" said, we are living in perilous times. Sadly it is no longer just from without, now it is also from within.

Now....if I could opt out of all the "Glock is better than XD" threads and the "Kill the Mormons and take their stuff"....and the "Kill Zombies" threads.....this place would be Nirvana!

Or the AK versus AR threads. I must have missed the Mormon threads...what kind of stuff they got?

Awesome.

I've already opted out.

Why the secrecy for what the requirements are? I understand having set requirements, but keeping them secret seems a bit odd. Unless it's based soley on post count, in which case I understand completely.

The goal is to keep this a firearms oriented website and resource with knowledgeable people around helping everyone else. That is why we have an opt out that can be easily joined and left. Also, if there is a post count requirement we would not want people spamming their last 7 posts just to get in.

Makes good sense. And as a firearms website, this is the best resource on the net. Thanks for the reply.
