Sooo, I just placed my first order with Brownells, for a firearm. I used a discount code and blah blah but they charge a $10 fee, for their side, of "FFL processing". I still saved money on the weapon but if it owuld have been cheaper elsewhere, then I would not have hesitated buying it on another site. I have never heard of this fee but maybe some of you guys have. I know that Brownells will not be in my goto choices for firearms though, or prpbably anything else.

Just my opinion

So you got the gun cheaper than what you could find elsewhere, but you are likely never going to do business with them again because they charged a $10 fee (a.k.a. "profit") that they disclosed prior to the sale?

I get irritated by their flat $7.95 shipping fee for even say a $.50 cent spring....

I like brownies. The .mil discount is decent and they have sales pretty regular. They have free shipping now and then. They are really good about returns as well.

My one and only deal with them was to order a loading die set and another item. These were in the shipping box with no packing, loose and bounced around all the way here. Luckily, nothing was damaged. I contacted their office, got a "so what" response. Won't buy from them again.

Brownell's is the largest gun parts supplier out there. They do have ups and downs like all big stores but they have the largest selection of gun parts anywhere. Not always the cheapest though but
that can be said about every store you go to online or in person.

I buy quite a few gun parts from Brownell's but never a firearm. Didn't know about their $10 transfer fee but obviously you did prior to buying. Who's to blame there?

You folks with your one time experience might not go back to Brownell's but you would if you needed something nobody else has. They often offer codes for discounts and free shipping also.

OK, so they're the biggest out there. So what. Poor customer service is poor service. Not sure why some here think that's ok.

In my experience Brownells has been one of the best online outfits to deal with, gun related or not.
The sales they have been having the last year have been really good.
Their return policy is generous. I have returned unused items 3 or 4 years after purchase with no issues.

My only complaint is they quit having the $4 shipping option for small parts.

Their packages are usually packaged very well, but once in a while they are not. At least they pack better than Amazon.
If something was damaged they will replace it.

Your one time experience is not a total reflection on Brownell's customer service.
I have had nothing but good response from them. You might have caught someone in a bad mood that day.
Or you might have been a little bit out of line with your request. I don't know. I also don't care.
Nuff said.
